What is Kanagawa Prefecture
Kamakura was the home of the Kamakura shogunate during the ancient Kamakura period. Later, during the Edo period, the prefecture's Tokyo Bay coastal area developed along with the construction of the Tokaido, the route to Edo where the Edo shogunate were located.
