What is Gunma Prefecture
Gunma is a very mountainous prefecture with many agricultural and dairy farms taking advantage of the cooler climate. It is famous for its cabbages and konnyaku. In the city of Takasaki, it is very common to make daruma dolls, a popular kind of good luck charm. Tomioka Silk Mill, located in the city of Tomioka, is Japan's oldest silk reeling factory and was registered as a World Heritage Site in June 2014.
